A few clips from a recent trip into Burma as part of the See & Sea appeal to help the Moken. Huge thanks to Jannik B Dedersen for the photos, Ric Parker and Clive White from Thailand Dive and Sail ;) and also marine biologists Dr. Andrea Marshall and Dr. Lindsay Marshall. Angles
In our experience, the best swell angle for Khao Lak is from a SW-W direction however these swells are quite rare as most groundswells come predominantly from a S-SW angle, which refract towards the coast but retain little power. The long range is predicting a small direct groundswell to arrive around May 5th, lets see what happens.

SUP Bali
A few photos from one of the March SUP sessions at Nusa Dua. Pictured, Andrew and Scotty testing out Starboard's new prototypes. The waves were so good out there, many thanks for the photos Andrew.
Captain Goodvibes
Mark put me onto this one, a comic strip about a surfing, drinking, smoking, agro pig, the creation of Tony Edwards which first graced the pages of Tracks magazine during the 70's, awesome! Read more about Captain Goodvibes here.
April Swells
We had a half decent groundswell come through but was affected by local storm systems making it a bit choppy, we still scored some ok waves on the reef at Pakarang. Great to meet Vince, a super keen surfer from the Philippines who surfed himself out during his short stay.
Khao Lak Surf School
Even though the surf can sometimes be tiny we still have lots of fun playing around in the water learning how to Paddlesurf and Surf. Nice to see Stephan from Germany and Aniko from Switzerland making the most from the small waves and getting tips from our surf coach.
South Star Surf Bar Payam
Khun Toei and Khun Kay of the South Star Surf Bar on Ao Yai beach Koh Payam, Ranong have now opened their surf shop and are offering board rental, surf lessons and beach hut accommodation year round. Their website is currently under construction but check back soon here or here for further developments.
Burma Photo Edition
Burma (Myanmar) is truly an amazing part of the planet to visit. The sights and sounds of Burma are of a forgotten country, somehow otherworldly, as if frozen in time. The Burmese are genuine, fun loving and very hospitable. The following photos were taken during a trip in late 2010, planned and sponsored by Starboard SUP, enjoy.
